Hummer brand can revive

American concern General Motors may once again start producing expensive and very cool SUVs and pickups, reports Reuters. And it is possible that specifically for this purpose the Hummer brand will be revived.

According to preliminary data, the production of revived "Hummers" can start at the end of 2021. Moreover, we are talking about the beginning of the release of not just SUVs and pickups, and electric cars. It is expected that a whole family of large SUVs will be created, which will be produced not only under the Hummer brand, but also under the GMC and Cadillac brands.

According to most experts, a Hummer revival is a great idea. At least in the US (and the rest of the world, including China), the brand is still well known. Therefore, the market should well accept electric Hummer, especially if they will have decent characteristics and have an interesting appearance.

I must say that now we are seeing the beginning of a big battle for the market of large electric pickups and SUVs. It is expected that this year a pickup truck from Tesla will be presented, and soon the sale of SUVs from the company Rivian will begin. About the last brand we learned recently, but the prospects are huge-Rivian has already invested money such giants as Amazon and Ford.

For the first time cars of the brand Rivian we saw last fall at the auto show in Los Angeles. Then was shown a large SUV R1S and pickup Ridianr 1 T. from a technical point of view, they are identical: the cars have four (!) two electric motors (each running with its own wheel).

In the basic version, the total power of the motors is 408 HP (560 N*m), and the battery has a capacity of 105 kW*h (with such characteristics, the SUV can drive 386, and the pickup truck — 370 km). It was also shown a variant with motors with a capacity of 764 HP (1120 N*m) and a battery for 135 and even 180 kW*h. in the latter case, on one charge, the mileage grows to 700 kilometers. And the acceleration time of 0-100 km/h in a rather big and heavy SUV-3.2 seconds.
